The Boulder Police Department would like to thank RTD and the community for their patience as we continue to investigate the 30th Street homicide. In reference to this investigation, the Park-and-Ride at 4920 Table Mesa Drive was closed through this morning. The Table Mesa Park-N-Ride is now open and available for commuters.
As a reminder, Foothills Parkway is closed this weekend for a scheduled bridge removal, in reference to the Foothills Parkway Underpass project. This closure has no relation to the homicide investigation and is part of a scheduled project. More information is posted below.
City of Boulder News Release – Oct. 29, 2019
The City of Boulder Foothills Parkway Underpass project on SH157 just south of Colorado Avenue is underway and is progressing on schedule to be completed in approximately one year. The new underpass will replace the existing bridge which is at the end of its service life and provide safer routes for cyclists and pedestrians. Part of the construction of the underpass is the removal of the existing bridge over Foothills Parkway. Beginning at 7 a.m., Nov. 2 and ending at 7 p.m., Nov. 3, Foothills Parkway will be closed from Baseline Road to Arapahoe Avenue to allow for the removal of the bridge. During the removal, the area will be cordoned off for safety and detours will be in place.
Vehicles will detour from Baseline Road or Arapahoe Avenue to US36/28th Street. The pedestrian and bicycle detour is signed along the route and also available on the city’s website, www.bit.ly/FoothillsUnderpass
Park East Park will remain open during construction. However, the basketball court will be fenced off and closed to play for safety reasons Nov. 1-8. Those wanting to play basketball during these dates are invited to visit one of Boulder’s many courts, including those at Emma Gomez Martinez Park, Greenleaf Park or the East Boulder Community Center and Park.
Following this weekend’s closure and removal of the overpass bridge, the construction of the underpass on the west side of Foothills Parkway will begin. Four lanes of Foothills Parkway will remain open with occasional off-peak lane closures.
