The Boulder Police Department has arrested an adult male in connection with crimes involving a machete this week.
The first occurred Monday, Feb. 22, at approximately 9:45 p.m. in the 1500 block of Spruce Street. The victim walked outside of his residence and discovered a man in the bushes. During the incident, the man pulled a machete out of his backpack and threatened the victim before walking away.
On Tuesday, Feb. 23, at approximately 4:50 p.m. in the 2100 block of Grove Circle, the victims observed a man burglarizing their house. The man started to pull a machete out of his backpack and threatened the victims before riding away on a bicycle.
On Wednesday, Feb. 24, the suspect was spotted by the victim riding her stolen bike. She called police and officers found and arrested John Paul Gadreau, 31, in the 2300 block of Spruce Street.
Gadreau will be charged with aggravated robbery, first degree burglary, felony menacing, second degree burglary and felony criminal mischief. His booking photo can be obtained from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office once it’s available.
