The Boulder Police Department is investigating a two-vehicle crash on the Diagonal Highway that killed two people.
At approximately 11:20 p.m. on Monday, July 26, officers were called to the intersection of 34th Street and the Diagonal Highway for a report of a two-vehicle crash. A BMW sedan driving westbound on the Diagonal turned southbound at 34th Street in front of a Nissan Altima driving eastbound and was struck.
Two passengers in the BMW, a 53-year-old male and 56-year-old male, died at the scene. The driver of the BMW, a 79-year-old male, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the Altima, a 21-year-old male, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Diagonal Highway was closed in both directions from 30th Street to Foothills Parkway from the time of the crash until just after 6 a.m. today, July 27.
The Coroner’s Office will identify the victims and notify the next of kin.
At this time, officers are still investigating the cause of the crash.
